Easy Holiday Hasselback Potatoes

Perfect for holidays when you want delicious food without spending hours in the kitchen. Get the kids involved while someone else handles the braai!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large unpeeled potatoes
  • 100 g butter, melted
  • 60 g brown onion soup powder
  • 2.5 ml garlic salt
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
  2. Scrub the potatoes thoroughly with a vegetable brush.
  3. Slice the potatoes into thick slices without cutting all the way through.
  4. In a bowl, mix the melted butter, brown onion soup powder, and garlic salt. Spread this mixture between the potato slices.
  5. Insert slices of tomato and onion between the potato slices. Halve the tomato and onion slices if needed to fit better.
  6. Place the prepared potatoes in a baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 90 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil, brush the potatoes with a little oil, and bake uncovered for another 30 minutes until golden.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
